Just a quick tip for thoose of you receiving Local Housing Payments,
They have now changed the policy on landlords rights to obtaining information on the tenants payments.
Even though you may get your tenant to sign the declaration on the forms (LHA) saying they give you permission to get info from the council, this is now nul and void.
They must now send in a seperate letter rerquesting this.
What a load of paperwork for nothing.
Hope this helps some of you.

Thanks for the heads up. So far i haven't been informed by my council about this, but its best to have it ready if the need arises.

What i don't understand is what is the point of filling in the appropriate section on the LHA form to give permission if this is not taken into consideration...sigh!

My point exactly, I now have to go around all my tenants asking for a seperate letter of authority,
The Local Housing authority forms are quite explanatory....I can't see why another set of rules has come in . A letter from the tenant would state exactly what they had signd in the main application form in the frst place.
Also I've had no letter saying the rules had changed.

Perhaps we should request where this "new" policy has come from.
