Hello, just been informed that PAT tests are complusory under very new regulations - can anyone confirm this? Had a bit of a general scan on the web and cant find anything on PAT except employer responsibility.
Cheers

Hi Paul, thank you.
Thought this was the case but agent insisting that it's compulsory rather than advisable. Not that I mind doing one. :)

I would always make sure that if you have gone to the effort and expense of carrying out PAT checks then make sure the equipment that is being used by the tester has been calibrated. This was a tip from ym friend who calibrates electrical equipment at http://www.lambda-cal.co.uk and he is often amazed at the state of some of the equipment.

There is a requirement for PAT testing equipment to be calibrated on an annual basis. All you have to do is to ask your PAT tester to produce his equipment calibration certificate. If he can't - get another PAT tester!
