View Full Version : Can I offset SDLT when calculating gain for CGT?

I have seen the following on this site about a CGT calc when selling a property.

'The cost is taken as the headline price plus all legal costs, stamp duty survey fees etc.

The sale proceeds are the headline price less the agents fees, legal fees etc.'

It dosnt actually say it but i assume stamp duty is deductable aswell in the CGT calculation?

The post must be quite old; Stamp Duty was abolished almsot a decade ago. It was replaced by Stamp Duty Land Tax, quite a different (and very much more complex) system, but SDLT is equally an allowable expense of purchase as SD used to be.
