Agent wants to charge for periodic tenancy

My tenant's initial 6 month AST is coming to an end soon. The agent that found the tenant wants to charge me if I allow the contract default to a periodic tenancy. Can they do that?

It all depends on your terms of business with your agent. You would be well advised to check them and ensure that your agent has a signed copy there terms of business and ensure that they are enforceable.
