I am filling my SA Online form ,
Under Profits and losses for other property income --> Adjusted profit or loss calculation The calulation is as follows :

37. Loss brought forward from previous year: £ 800.00

38. Taxable profit for the year (box 36 minus box 37): £ Not Entered

39. Adjusted loss for the year - £600.00

40. Loss set-off against 2007-08 total income –
this will be unusual: £ Not Entered

41. To carry forward to following year, including
unused losses brought forward: £ 800.00

I think the figure under column 41 should be £ 1400.00.

Any one has experienced this problem ? I called up the help desk, they told me that the calculation is correct .

I have exactly the same issue. 2006/7 losses carried froward £5939 and 2007/8 losses £2207. SA calculation shows losses carried forward to 2008/9 are £5939 not £8146 which I believe is correct. Phoned the IR helpline and nobody available to answer the question. To ensure the losses carried forward are correct I have changed the 2006/7 losses to £8146 and submitted the form, but the IR SA service has now crashed! I have a feeling the IR doesn't check losses carried forward, but I'll have to wait and see, but the important issue for me is to make sure the ongoing losses are correct, even if this means adjusting the bought forward losses.

Apparently (according to another forum) the SA is stand alone for each year, so the last years figures shouldn't appear.

Still con't understand how the tax can be right if last years figures aren't merged.

But it won't let me put anything in the "Loss to carry forward to following year" at all! It's not a clickable box - looking at the previous posts on this thread, it seems that it's not allowing any of this years losses to be carried forward for anyone.

I'm not bringing any losses forward from last year, btw.

I've had the same problem ... anyone got a solution yet?? I filed online last year and it carried the loss.

The deadline is looming so I'm going to add the details in the information box at the end of the property section.

As this information won't affect the calculation for this year and the figure needs manually entering next year, I just hope the problem is sorted by then.
