Are any letting agents in favour of having a forum dedicated to those who run letting agencies (landlords welcome of course)? Share experiences, give each other advice, the current market, landlord and tenant issues, rent arrears, how to improve the service and the industry? Generally get letting agents talking to each other for the good of all?

Er, isn't that one of the functions of LZ's "Letting Agent Questions" forum? Why re-invent?

Well at the risk of offending, I generally see nothing but complaints about agents on here and I feel there should be more discussion and debate about how to improve the industry, what better we can do for landlords and tenants and try and have some other topics rather than "my agent did this and that and are rubbish". I find in business it can be good for people in the same industry to talk to teach other and encourage more communication. I have posted on ocassion a general question about what improvements landlords and tenants would like to see from agents but nothing ever really came of it?
Agents come in all shapes and forms good ones, established ones, very experienced ones and relative newbies. All i feel have something to offer
Just my thoughts.................

ARLA & RLA have very good platforms for improving the industry. They're called Trade Associations.
Other than that you won't beat LLZ for information and comment.

Yes, tenants, and landlords (me included) bitch about agents on this forum. Why? Because the job is unregulated and thus some people consider it to be their licence to print money. This results in them getting a poor reputation, loosing business and becoming insolvent, taking with them their landlord clients money, some of which belongs to tenants which landlords are obliged to replace. Like any other business, it takes much time, effort and training to become a successful agent. I have the pleasure of being a customer of three excellent ones - they do exist. It behoves the less experienced agents to read the bitching that is posted here, learn from it and if other posters confirm that it is justified, make certain that the matter does not apply to their businesses. That way less experienced agents can learn and hopefully ensure that their businesses are successful. It should be pointed out that more experienced agents also post help and advice here for their less experienced colleagues. I have also known very experienced agents to post a query here from time to time and the responses from people like Paul F, Jeffrey or, Lawcruncher to mention three of our most experienced posters are always worth readng.
