Stupid scatty letting agents

We applied for a house that the status was available now (we applied like 2 weeks ago). the house isn;t ready and may not be ready in time for our current tenancy ending. Meaning we'd have nowhere to live.

Why would they bother advertising the house as available if it isnt?

We werent allowed to apply sooner than we did because they said we were looking too soon too. So now I'm so angry. I'm going to have to turn down my new job and move back in with my parents 300 miles away. All because of a stupid scatty letting agent!!

How do I go about getting refunded deposit, first months rent AND money for credit checks (they havent bothered to do them yet)

I'm afraid you're not alone in this scenario - have seen it before, and sometimes it isn't the Agents fault, but an equally scatty Landlord...... However, you should have no trouble in getting a full refund from the Agent assuming you have receipts for what you paid, and the property is not available on the date that you agreed to take it.
