I'm new to the site but am very impressed by the usefull information submitted by other users.

My dwelling is a house attached to a block of 8 flats of which collectively the freehold is owned by a Flat Management Company of which i'm a shareholder ( is this a RTE Company).Do i have the right to insure the structure of my dwelling using a insurer of my choice.Or do i have to continue with the block policy.

you can insure provided you serve the appropriate documentation as set out in the 2002 commonhold and leasehold reform act

Yes. See section 164 which sets out the procedure.
