I'm not sure on petrol, but gasoline would be an equivalent price of about £2/litre, wouldn't it?

No. Their "gasoline" is our "petrol". $7 per gallon= £3.50 per gallon = 77p per litre.
Only discrepancy: USA gallons are different from Imperial gallons. Litres are the same, though.

20 seats? Wow!! Don't you need a special licence to carry more than 8 passengers? How does that work?

£250 per hour? For carting 20 lagerlouts around for one hour hanging out of the window shouting obsenities!! Nearly as cheap as the bus. Good luck with that one.You will need it. Don't forget sick bags and cleaning kit for the jouney:D

Hope that it's licensed as such. See recent newspaper articles (inc. Sunday Times 29 June) re new licensing scheme.

A category D licence ( full bus licence) is required for 20 seats if they are fare-paying.If their not paying thats ok on a car licence.

Not so now, for the stretched limousines.

A car licence entitles you to drive a vehicle with up to 8 persons for hire or reward. Up to 16 without reward. The stretch limo rules are a minefield at present. The Hummer being the only stretch vehicle (at present) with a coif to carry more than 8.

Wrong. You cant coif a hummer...too few exits. An excursion can be coif'd though.
J. You can drive a limo on a car licence...FACT. You can carry up to 8 for reward. But as many as you like if you dont charge....
Scenario. Customer books limo for 8. I cancel booking with no refund!! ( i dont have to refund in my terms and conditions if cancellation not my fault) BUT i give customer a free hire for 20 to say sorry....FREE so legal!

See www.hummerzine.co.uk.
You have explained carefully one of the ways to get around the law.Its common practice, apparently.Beware the police and councils are clamping down due to the expected 50% rise in the number of stretch vehicles.
Enjoy while you can.:D

Maybe so. Do you know if this argument has ever succeeded as a defence to a prosecution?

Starlettings, please tell me you got the really classy candy pink paintjob or perhaps even the zebra print one? As well as the 'night club' interior!

My mistake. The Hummer is not alone. The Ford Excursion also has this privilege.
