Guarentor

I'm trying to Credit check my potential tenants using creditreporting.co.uk, one of the girls seems fine, but the other girl the system cannot find, I've told her this and she says, what about if she offers her stepdad as a 'guarentor'.

I wondered how to do this, regarding legal paperwork etc.

Has anyone done it?

There could be skeletons in the cupboard and it's not just about having the rent paid.

Why is it that she doesn't show up on a credit check?

A guarantor might be alright but make sure you get the spelling right! You must make sure the guarnator is given a copy of the AST beforehand for his covering the rent, dilapidations, and any costs otherwise you won;t be able to enforce it.

If you're not sure what you're doing get somebody who does!
