Scottish Guarantor English AST

Would anyone be able to tell me if it's acceptable to have a guarantor based in Scotland for an English tenancy? ie if tenants defaulted and we had to go after the guarantor, and it ended up going to court, would the fact that he's based in Scotland and they have different laws make it hard for us/the landlord to get his rent?

Yes, provided that Deed of Guarantee expressly states that it is governed by English law.
You could then sue him (if necessary) in England, then enforce Order in Scotland.
