VAT on new-build even if abandoned?

hi i was wondering if anyone knows if there is any truth in a rumour i heard.

'no vat payable on works following abandonment or eviction'

seached the web couldn't find anything so if you could send me in the right way or/and confirm this it would be a great help. thanks in advance

It's untrue.

New builds do not attract VAT. Visit HM Revenue and Customs' website at www.hmrc.gov.uk. Search for "new builds" - it's all there.

All works other than new build continues to attract VAT.
