Unipol Student Homes and the Residential Landlords Association are delighted to bring you details of the forthcoming Yorkshire Landlords Day 2013. Yorkshire Landlords Day will focus on inspiring, informing and supporting those landlords who seek to provide some of Yorkshire’s vital housing stock. The event will take place on Thursday 21st February at a previously used and popular venue, Pudsey Civic Hall, Dawson’s Corner, Stanningley, Pudsey, Yorkshire LS28 5TA. This popular event is free for landlords to attend and is now in its fifth year. The event is organised jointly by Unipol Student Homes, a national student housing charity based in Leeds and the main trainer in student accommodation nationally, and the Residential Landlords Association, the national voice of landlords, with the full support of Leeds City Council and other Local Authorities in the Yorkshire region, who have supported the return of this popular event.
The event is aimed at all landlords from across the Yorkshire region and takes place between 10am and 5pm.
During the day there will be:
• An exhibition of services provided by relevant companies and organisations in the region
• A packed roster of seminars from expert speakers
• A drop in ‘Property Clinic’ run by Kate Faulkner of Designs on Properties and Paul Shamplina of Landlord Action
• A key note speech, panel discussion and question and answer session
• Invitation to a networking event, with complimentary refreshments taking place at the end of the day
Parking is free and onsite
The exhibition hall will demonstrate a wealth of service providers for landlords, allowing landlords to gain face-to-face information and advice from those able to assist their business. So far exhibitors include the Residential Landlords Association, local authorities in Yorkshire, Unipol Student homes, furniture providers, lettings agents, utility service providers, safety organisations, West Yorkshire Police and insurance brokers. Also available to landlords throughout the day is a drop in ‘Property Clinic’ run by Kate Faulkner of Designs on Properties and Paul Shamplina of Landlord Action. Exhibition places are still available so keep an eye on the dedicated website for updates.
The host of free seminars cover a variety of topics delivered by expert speakers. Seminars on renting to students, property investment and tenancy deposits will be delivered by Simon Thomson, Director of Accommodation for Students, Richard Bowser of Property Investor News and a representative from the longstanding Tenancy Deposit Scheme.
Richard OJones from Bury & Walkers will be providing a Legal Update for Landlords and Andy Lee from Fortress Management delivering a seminar on Taxation for Landlords.
There are also seminars from Leeds City Council and the RLA, discussing the Leeds Neighourhood Approach, Landlord Accreditation, the Green Deal and how Landlords and Leeds City Council can work together to work towards a better Leeds. Leeds City Council’s Steven Carey will also discuss the Impacts of Welfare Reform on the Private Rented Sector.
