Welcome

Welcome to the LandlordZONE - Landlord’s WebLog - “LandlordLOG”.
Definition: “A log is a permanent record and keeps track of events and knowledge acquired over time, because human memory is unreliable. A log organises information in chronological order and in the case of the LandlordLOG forms a data-base of specialist investing and “landlording” information which is searchable on-line.
A weblog or “blog ” is a web site which a web logger or “blogger” (one who writes a web log) up-dates on a regular basis. It contains anything from brief posts to long articles and links to other web sites which contain relevant and related content.
Blog posts are arranged in reverse-chronological order (the most recent posts appearing first). Each post is uniquely identified by an anchor tag, and is marked by a permanent link that can be referred to by others who wish to link to it.
Web Logs are rapidly gaining in popularity and when working in conjunction with RSS news-feeds form the basis of an exciting new medium which facilitates the interchange of knowledge and information, particulalry useful in specialist fields such as property investment and landlording.
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It’s a wonderfully uncomplicated way to transfer information from a publisher such as LandlordZONE and LandlordLOG to subscribers who want that information. It’s also a very promising way to get around the problems we are currently experiencing with email as a delivery system for newsletters.
There are currently three major problems with using e-mail for newsletters:
The first is spam filters. Newsletters are very likely to go directly to your junk mail folder especially if it contains one of the banned words such as “free”.
Secondly, newsletters get blacklisted by services such as hotmail and yahoo mail if just one of their users clicks on the “this is spam” link while viewing the message.
Another much more significant problem with email for newsletters is where people abandon their addresses due to excessive spam and do not remember to re-subscribe. The address-abandon rate can actually be higher than the subscription rate.
With an RSS or Atom newsfeed (2 alternative standards) the subscriber doesn’t need an email address and will not be fed news stories without specifically asking for them.
In the near future the ability to subscribe to rss/atom news feeds will become a standard feature in new email programs. (Mozilla Thunderbird already has this) This will mean you have the ability to view your selected news feeds where you view your email.
Alternatively, you can download one of the many free (do a search on Google) or paid for news feed readers such as FeedDemon from Bradsoft
This news will be completely separate from your email address. No spam will go into that folder, and that folder will continue to receive the news you want regardless of how many times you change your email address or add new accounts.
Unsubscribing from a news feed is as simple hitting the delete key.
Subscribing is also very simple - you just type File > New > Feed > Paste url of news feed > OK.
This LandlordLOG site is a sister site to the main LandlordZONE web site and as such will support the site’s Newsletter, and the LandlordZONE Question and Answer Forum
This web “Log” should be of help to anyone involved with investment and rental property (professionals and amateurs alike) to learn from the experience of others and to keep right up-to-date with important developments in the industry.
In addition, links to the LandlordZONE Directory will help practitioners source the best value products available.
Watch this space!
